Jozi-10

Medium: Oils on stretched canvas frame.
Size: 510 (Height) x 1 100 (Width) x 25 (Depth) mm
This scene is off the M2 Highway running alongside the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Newtown Downtown Jhb. I love the titillating blur of the Police Van. That image taking this work to an almost “pop-art” sensation.
The shadows reminiscent of the dark side of the city. I really enjoyed watching this particular piece come to life…

These paintings are of a typical scene as one drives onto the Nelson Mandela Bridge heading towards Newtown.
Facts on the bridge:
It is a 294-meter-long structure that spans over the Braamfontein railway yard. It connects Braamfontein to Newtown and spans 41 railway lines. It was officially opened on 20 July 2003 with a road race commemorating Nelson Mandela’s 85th Birthday. The bridge is of an asymmetrical dual-pylon cable-stayed design.
